Former Foundation leader honoured by Peter Mac
17 July 2025
Jennifer Doubell OAM, former Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation Executive Director, has received Peter Mac’s highest honour for her service to cancer care and research.
Last week, Jennifer was named a Distinguished Fellow of Peter Mac. This honour acknowledges her contributions towards furthering research at Peter through fundraising and philanthropy.
Jennifer served as the Foundation’s Executive Director from 2008 to 2021. During her time as leader, the Foundation’s donor base tripled in size, receiving a significant increase in donations and several major philanthropic gifts. This allowed Peter Mac to pursue innovative and lifesaving research across many different cancer and treatment types.
Highlights under Jennifer’s leadership include the purchase of the Da Vinci surgical robot, the Gamma Knife radiation tool, and a $50 million campaign to support the state-of-the-art Parkville building opened in 2016. These initiatives were vital in making Peter Mac the dedicated and exceptional cancer centre that it is today.
The first fundraiser to be inducted as a Distinguished Fellow, Jennifer was awarded the honour at a special ceremony attended by Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre Board members, colleagues, friends and family. In reflecting on Jennifer’s impact, Peter Mac Board Chair Professor Rosemary McKenzie said, ‘You may have left Peter Mac, but you will always be a close and respected friend of this organisation.’
Jennifer’s vision and leadership laid the groundwork for the Foundation to continue its fundraising success. The Peter Mac Foundation expresses its congratulations and sincere thanks to Jennifer Doubell for her incredible work. Her legacy ensures that we can continue to grow and nurture the wide range of pioneering research of Peter Mac, making a real difference to the lives of people affected by cancer.
